A list of places that people who use Monzo loved last month in East London.
They’re the places you've been going to lots recently, beyond all the big chains and familiar names. They’re not the most popular places overall (sorry Greggs), but your favourite haunts and neighbourhood gems.
Let us know what you think and share your favourite places using #TrendingSpending!
You can hear from our Machine Learning Lead Neal to learn how we work out what’s trending, and see what’s trending in the rest of London.
We’ve started with London because it’s where the most people use Monzo. But if you find this interesting, we’d love to do your city next! Let us know in the community forum or tell us on Twitter.

Cafes in East London
Curio Cabal
258 Kingsland Rd, E8 4DG curiocabal.co.uk
This cafe wraps round a corner in Haggerston and has a chilled outdoor space (even though it’s right on the busy Kingsland Road).
Right now the cafe’s also playing host to Island Social Club, a Caribbean restaurant run by Londoners Marie Mitchell and Joseph Pilgrim. In the evenings it serves up what Evening Standard food critic Jimi Famurewa describes as “lightly reconsidered jerk shop staples, abominably flavoursome curries and buttery, expert rotis, steaming and begging to be squished into little pots of house-made, tingly-sweet mango chilli or tamarind sauce.”
Quarantacinque
45 Roman Rd, E2 0HU quarantacinque.co.uk Italian coffee loved by Bethnal Green locals.
