Calling time on phone fraud
If you get a call from someone saying they’re from Monzo, you can now check if it’s true in real time in the app. If you don’t see a “We’re calling you” message in the app, you’ll know to hang up to stay safe. Here’s a guide about protecting yourself from other types of fraud.
Safer shopping
Enjoy a more secure shopping experience with instant notifications. Every time your card is used, you’ll see the name of the shop, the location and the amount.
For online purchases, you’ll approve payments with two-step verification called 3D Secure.
With subscriptions plans, you also get ‘virtual card numbers’ that expire – handy for one-off purchases.

Freeze your card straight from the Monzo app, if it gets lost, stolen or you suspect fraud.
We’ll warn you if you’re paying someone and their details don’t match the receiving account – so you can decide if you trust where the money is going.
And if you need to copy your card number, it expires after 60 seconds so you don’t accidentally paste it.
Your identity protected
You can use biometrics every time you access the Monzo app on your phone. And the video selfie you take when you apply is so that no one can impersonate you when you get in touch.
