It’s been almost 4 years since we launched Monzo Plus and 3 years since we launched Monzo Premium. Today, we’re introducing Extra, Perks and Max – 3 brand new ways to upgrade your personal current account based on what’s important to you.
Since we launched Plus and Premium all those years ago, our community of subscribers has doubled in size. We’re catering to a wider range of people now and we need our upgrade options to meet their wants and needs.
Already got Plus or Premium? You don’t have to give up your subscription now the new plans are here. We'll cover this in more detail later.
Introducing Extra, Perks and Max
It’s our mission to make money work for everyone. And with these 3 brand new plans, we’re giving you even more ways to make your Monzo account work for you. A bit like with packaged bank accounts, Extra, Perks and Max are ways for you to add benefits on top of all the good stuff you get for free.
Whether you go for Extra, Perks or Max is really a question of which plan best suits your needs and where you’re at in life. Let’s introduce you to them one-by-one and then we’ll show you them side-by-side in a comparison table so you can see how the benefits stack up with each plan.
Extra – make money that bit easier
£3 a month • Aged 18+ • UK residents only • Ts&Cs apply
Extra is the plan that gives you the best of Monzo money management. Connect your other banks and credit cards to see them in Monzo, and get credit insights to improve your credit scores and credit health.
Extra also comes with all of this.
Custom spending categories to help you understand where your money goes so you can make changes (or keep doing what you're doing).
Virtual cards to so you can create and delete extra cards for budgeting and security reasons.
Advanced roundups to make your spare change go further. Turn them on and every time you spend we'll put 2, 5 or 10 times the spare change aside for you, depending on which multiplier setting you select.
Auto-spreadsheet adds your transaction information to a Google Sheet called ‘Monzo transactions’ and keeps it updated in real-time. That way you have a record of your account activity that you can zoom into the detail of, or zoom out for the bigger picture.
Fee-free cash withdrawal allowances with unlimited withdrawals in the UK and European Economic Area, and £200 fee-free every 30 days elsewhere.
Includes our signature Hot Coral card
When you sign up to Extra you'll order our signature Hot Coral debit card. If you’re already a Monzo customer with our free account, you’ll keep using your Hot Coral card as normal.
If you’re a Plus or Premium customer and you're not ready to part ways with your holographic or metal card, you don't have to! When you move to Extra we’ll give you the option to keep your current card until it expires.

Perks gives you everything you get with Extra, as well as these.

It’s the original Hot Coral except we’ve pushed all the dials up on the mixer to create a bigger, bolder look.
The card itself is made of rPVC (or recycled plastic, in everyday language) and we’ve put your details on the back for a clean, minimal front.
Again, if you’re a Plus or Premium customer and you're enjoying your holographic or metal card, you don't have to give it up. When you move to Perks we’ll give you the option to keep your current card until it expires.

Monzo Plus and Monzo Premium – what's changed?
If you’ve got Plus or Premium, you might have a few questions about the new plans. In this section we’ll answer some of the questions you have.
You can keep Plus and Premium if you already have it
If you’re a Plus or Premium customer, you can keep your subscription with no changes to how you use it at all, but if you cancel or move to Extra, Perks or Max, you won’t be able to get Plus or Premium back again.
The Max family cover is more extensive than the Premium family cover
With Monzo Premium (£15 a month), it’s only the travel insurance that extends to your family members. With Max, if you upgrade to include your family for an extra £5 a month (£22 a month) you and your family get travel insurance, phone insurance and breakdown cover. Not just that, but with the current Premium travel insurance you and your family are only covered when you’re travelling together. With Max, you’re covered even if you’re travelling separately. And it’s the same with the breakdown cover too. You and anyone you add to the policy are covered in any valid vehicle as passengers or drivers. Exclusions apply.
We're moving away from metal
Some of you will be asking, “Why no metal card?”. The honest truth is that metal cards are expensive to make and we wanted to squeeze a wider variety of value into the Max monthly payment.
If you have a metal card that you're not ready to part with but you like the idea of moving to one of our new plans, you can move to Extra, Perks or Max and keep your metal card until it expires.
Our new plans don’t include discounted lounge access, special offers or cashback on international transfers
We chose not to include these because our research showed that only a small number of customers were getting the full advantage of them. A bit like with the metal card, we wanted to find a way for a wider range of people to get value from their monthly payment for Extra, Perks or Max.
